BPD Rescues Teenage Girl From Sexual Traffickers

BPD Rescues Teenage Girl From Sexual Traffickers
Our local police officers deserve significant kudos after rescuing a Fresno teenage girl from sexual traffickers at a local motel.  Stopping human trafficking has also been an important issue to me and since being elected and I have been receiving ongoing updates from Bakersfield Police Chief, Greg Williamson, about additional enforcement efforts using the Regional Joint Vice Task Force.  This unit is a mix of BPD Detectives, Sheriff Department Deputies and state Alcoholic Beverage Control Agents, who have been very successful in their enforcement efforts, along with rescuing several other teenage girls from from those that prey on our youth.

Local Groups Help Stop Human Trafficking

I would like to thank local church organizations, victim rights groups, individual leaders and local media outlets, that continue to help in the fight to stop human trafficking.  Being a former state vice agent, I have seen firsthand how young women are victimized by the peddlers of prostitution.  Now, as the Chairman of the Bakersfield City Council, Safe Neighborhoods Committee, I will be asking that this issue be referred to the committee, so we can get further information for potential recommendations and strategies to help stop this abuse.
