The Bakersfield Police Department Southside substation will reopen on May 1st, 2015.

Upon being elected to the Bakersfield city council, it was one of Chris’ priorities to add additional police resources to the southern areas of Ward 7, particularly within the recently formed police “Valley” patrol zone. He is very pleased that the Bakersfield Police Department will now be re-opening the Southside Substation, located off of White Lane and Union Avenue, which will be re-opened on May 1st,. This substation has been closed for nearly 8 years. With the new Valley patrol zone now covering all of the east side of Ward 7, along with large areas within Ward 1, he was able to team of with an adjacent colleague, Bakersfield City Councilmember Willie Rivera to make this happen, which is a win-win for both their respective constituents.

Chris said; “This isn’t about politics, it’s about getting things done to help people and provide added police resources to communities that need it the most.”

Chris also thanks the city manager and police chief for their assistance in quickly responding to the vision of increased public safety in the south.
